Choose 2 Connect Program Information and Goals

The Newton Public Schools Choose 2 Connect Program provides a variety of learning experiences for third through eighth-grade students in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, STEAM, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with quarterly themes that encourage staff to create cross-curricular lessons as appropriate for all students. The program encourages students to develop interests in educational classes and collaborate, when possible, on thematic projects. Choose 2 Connect relies on the partnership of students, teachers, parents, and community partners to develop the potential of each student. 
Program Goals
  • To provide high-quality education and enrichment programs that will enable students to improve academic achievement and promote positive behavior and appropriate social interaction with peers and adults.
  • To establish collaborative relationships that offer opportunities for literacy and related educational activities to the families of participating students. 
  • To measure participants’ progress and program effectiveness through monitoring and evaluating.

El programa Choose 2 Connect (C2C) de las escuelas públicas de Newton ofrece una variedad de experiencias de aprendizaje para estudiantes de tercer a octavo grado en las áreas de artes del lenguaje inglés, matemáticas, educación física, STEAM y aprendizaje socioemocional (SEL) con temas trimestrales que animan al personal a crear lecciones transversales según sea apropiado para todos los estudiantes. El programa anima a los estudiantes a desarrollar intereses en las clases educativas y colaborar, cuando sea posible, en proyectos temáticos. Choose 2 Connect (C2C) se basa en la asociación de estudiantes, maestros, padres y socios de la comunidad para desarrollar el potencial de cada estudiante. 
Metas del programa
  • Proporcionar educación de alta calidad y programas de enriquecimiento que permitan a los estudiantes mejorar el rendimiento académico y promover un comportamiento positivo y una interacción social adecuada con sus compañeros y adultos
  • ​Establecer relaciones de colaboración que ofrezcan oportunidades de alfabetización y actividades educativas relacionadas a las familias de los estudiantes participantes. 
  • Medir el progreso de los participantes y la eficacia del programa mediante a través del seguimiento y la evaluación.
